    ha. he called him his little friend. i've been secretly amused since episode 1 about how short the protagonist is. he didn't say his kids were dead. just that he'd deny them death, or bring them back if necessary.

      I am getting confused about the kids, and I suspect Mandus is too. Something 'orrible definitely happened in Mexico but it's not clear what. Lots of opportunities for confusion about what's really going on.

    I had not made a connection between how linear this game can be at times and guiding farm animals but I think your intuition is dead on. The game is showing up more than a little dark on youtube I will say, although I shall continue to watch in any case.

    this guy was inspired to spur the industrial revolution cause his house was still pitch black even after he filled it to the brim with sconces. pre industrial lighting was horrible, huh? someone wierdo parking in your drive to pick up their kids was the creepiest thing to happen so far. o.o;; are anteaters really that big? o.O

    I am glad the algorithm sent me here. A Machine for Pigs is a brilliant game that got shafted as it was not quite what a lot of people were expecting. I won't spoil it but I will say paying attention to and considering the story the game is telling is vital to enjoying it fully. Definitely subbed for more and am looking forward to the next video.

    it's possible he developed that thing independently. just unlikely. an ex butcher who associates people with pigs, expresses violent inclinations, and engages in clandestine perversion on the staff? this guy's wasting no time establishing himself as the villain. i'd suspect a red herring situation, but after the whole kovac situation, who knows. maybe expectation subversion is a relic of the past. i've been out of the relevant loops for awhile.

      This is victorian industrial madness so I'm firmly expecting so dehumanising horrors. Then again you have got me thinking about the fake out - what would cause such a change from a monster to a pure innocent who only wants to fix things?

    neato. i played the first amnesia when it's scariness was all hyped up. turned out it was only effective if you were afraid of the dark, as you were safe in the dark, and vulnerable in the light. but for someone like me, who feels that way naturally, the mechanics were completely ineffective. loved the atmosphere and story though. the environment was beautiful, and the game was more like a stroll through a park for me. o.o;; 15:50 oo, the door disappeared. you sir, might be hallucinating a bit. looking forward to seeing how this one stacks up to the first one.

      Yeah I agree, the scares didn't really work for me, although the audio could be very creepy. This one promises some grim body horror, but lets see if it delivers!

      God I wish I was like you. I was young when there was a humble bundle with several great games including amnesia… I had enough I was able to buy bundle and knew if amnesia… I played maybe 2 minutes? Left opening room and instantly got waaaay to paranoid. I HATE jump scares and HATE being chased. Just giving in to the dark sounds so much better. Like, I can see you… you can’t see me. lol ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

      @ Lol don't worry it can still get me and there were portions of the original Amnesia (especially right at the end) that kept coming back to me in a very haunting way. I have found that I get a greater reaction to books then I have in the past, where an authors skillful building of horror and/or stress can leave me struggling to get through it. How we change huh?

    Salut et merci pour cette vidéo. Mon perso est lvl 19 et je viens de finir la campagne, je viens D'ouvrir le terminal où je dois cocher les 2 cases et quitter LINX. Le truc c'est que je voudrais de monter mon perso jusqu'au lvl 30 et continuer ensuite de jouer avec mon perso dans ce mode campagne. Si je coche les 2 cases je sais que je vais avoir la cinematic de fin mais est-ce que je vais rester dans la campagne ? J'ai peur de valider ces 2 cases, de quitter LINX et ne plus pouvoir continuer... Merci pour ton retour, bonne journée.

    i'll definitely be getting shapez 2 1.0. shapez 1 definitely had blueprints. i also like pins. they multiply the already countless possibilities. i'm curious to the actual numbers involved here, but i'm not a mathinator. now, offloading different layers onto belts which just magically remember which layer they were input from and require that layer to output to, i'm not sure i'm keen for. it seems like it would cause more trouble than it's worth. i may prefer the control over how many layers i wanted to sort my belt feed into manually per situation. but i'm not decided yet.

      I do feel like I'm now constantly manually juggling belt level inputs and outputs and they are not translating well into blueprints. I really need to get my head around it or I'm going to be getting frustrated!

    ha. yes, i too described that shape as the umbrella logo. specifically, i called it an anorexic umbrella corp logo, but basically the same. also, you've opened my eyes to a legitimate purpose for the trains. they facilitate the existence of efficient sushi belts. that could actually be useful under specific conditions.

      Oh yes, ship me (train me?) a triple stack of sashimi. Or, if I've had too much sake, "shashimi". Being as we're in the cold void of space it'll also stay fresh indefinitely, although maybe a little vacuum burnt.

    ah, the joy of coming back to [a complex spaghetti of which you need to remember every detail] with no recollection of what you were even doing. i empathize with the feeling of wanting to wipe the slate clean at this point. if that alone wasn't enough, the early access update breaking my systems would be the nail in that coffin. o.o trains, hmm, you know i never really got them. not in factorio or here. in both games, once the resource got where it was going, the speed didn't really matter, since the stream would be constant.

      I really would wipe the slate (sky? dimension?) clean if I dared but somewhere in that lot is a production system repeatedly turning out items for more upgrade points. I like trains too, just not enough to play a game with them alone. I agree about the "trickle delivery" too. Why should we care about an initial lag if the items will get there eventually, and continuously. As I currently see it the main benefit of the trains (see next vid) is actually collection and delivery of multiple items at a volume that would clog a single belt.

      I'll try Salt - I have to be in the mood for specific games to commit time to them, but the unfinished LPs do haunt my dreams. I'll have a look at the last vids and see if I can break through the last wall I hit in the gameplay.

    i've actually seen at least 2 movies and 1 anime about amicable relations with zombies before, so it happens more often than you'd think. those zombie groups hunched over a meat pile are just begging for an explosive arrow, but it just never happens. o.o

      I was getting lazy with the healing - there was no reason to die there! Familiarity breeds contempt etc. As far as I know there's also no punishment for failure beyond my bruised ego, so I don't think I've lost any sort of steam achievement there.

    what makes you say he wasn't trying to help them survive? if they weren't fighters, then keeping them safe is the next best option to beefing them up. and that appears to be what he was doing. if only you could make a golden flaming stick. it'd be the perfect melee weapon compliment to your boomerang.

      Damn I'd never considered that as a weapon! I'm guessing you can make a stick golden as you can upgrade poor early grade weapons with a red stone. Unfortunately I doubt the flaming stick would work as it isn't an inventory item.

    you got a long range aoe with infinite ammo and durability. it doesn't get much stronger than that, unless you get infinite explosive ammo at some point. either it's a misunderstanding, or kovac's a secret villain. i honestly wouldn't be surprised either way.

      Even this game draws the line at casual child slaughtering. Red stones cannot be recovered but there are a LOT of them when you start looking. You can easily make gold versions of every weapon. The DLC also started to find good alternative uses for them to make rare materials.

    just noticed 1 feather makes 10 arrows. that must not work the way i imagined. but i can see it. maybe. good job on that hoard. didn't doubt you for a second. and more depressing turns. the game's half silly, half trauma. lots of graves around, too. makes sense.

      Well IRL one feather can be used for multiple arrow flights but I think 10:1 is certainly generous. The game is a real comic tragedy, but where on earth are this many zombies coming from? Have I made the joke about a grounded cruise ship yet because that might do i? If the zombies were more like Dead Island holiday makers that would also work with that scenario. Another game I played to death whilst making it as hard as possible for myself. One of my first ever channel series I think?

    i'd wager there's a possibility the absence of rain could be an aspect of the difficulty, rather than a bug. also, pretty sure this is the first time i've ever seen a game... resolve a situation like that. indie privilege, i guess.

      Oddly enough I think the lack of wet stuff is just RNG. I have experienced dry storms in the game before, but not so many. I've also experienced runs with rain so frequent that it becomes a challenge in itself (no cooking or fire damage, protection from the dark etc). The DLC also added frequent lightening strikes that could be a massive pain, and ultimately an exploitable bonus. RNG as a whole can be very strange in this game. I've had runs where the rare animal head drops become so frequent it became a joke.

    the piranha move so slow, they really don't seem all that dangerous, but they make for excellent mob grinders. look at all that free exp. we pretty much had the same reaction to her holding the new gun, too. lol.

    30% of the way through the game already? y'know, i have been wondering about that. the map only shows 4 islands and you've already cleared 2 of them, so i was wondering if it was a short game. guess it do be.

      Yeah the original game was fairly short and the very welcome El Diablo DLC added three more (very tough) islands. Without making good progress in the base game those new islands were a really steep ramp in challenge. I'm going through fairly fast as I know the game, but without that foreknowledge a player typically progresses more slowly with only a slow drip feed of new information. My own progress will also slow later as I have to be increasingly cautious with mounting threats.

    you were pretty conservative with your shots in the beginning, but you've gotten quite spray and pray-(y/ie(?)) this episode. guess the return on ammo is pretty generous.

      The ammo return on Hard is actually quite bad at 20 per pickup, but once I have a reserve amount I try to be more frivilous with it as I really dont want to be in hand to hand.

    while parrots speaking for monkeys giving you sidequests wasn't on my bingo card, for some reason, it's not _that_ surprising. kovac just kinda gives off a vibe, y'know? "these fruits and things are respawning, so that's really helping us. again, there's not really enough food around here..." dude. you can't put those statements right next to each other.

    you gotta do what you gotta do. i'd take the time to max out my bag before leaving the tutorial, too, if i knew it was a tutorial, or that deer became scarcer later.

      The lack of animals later can be a nasty shock first time around. You can still find them, but only in specific spots, and some of the animal types are far from friendly...

    it's pretty rough throughout, but none of that was really a problem for me. the first zombie you said appeared behind you definitely didn't, so i wasn't dissuaded yet either. but then, when night fell, and things were definitely spawning behind you, and then in the final seconds of the video, things even appeared right in front of you, right in your face.... nah. this game isn't for me. i can't stand infinitely respawning mobs just in general, but this... nope. maybe it'll be fun to watch, but i'd have uninstalled it around this point. lol.

      I think that this version of the game probably sprang out of the devs just messing with the original, or the third-person aspect was an early concept of the main game. The original game is nothing like this in terms of bad spawning events and the like, and I'm betting they threw in a few fixes to make it work and then just sold it for a few extra quid.

    the how to survive series was before my time. had no idea it was one of your most popular series. thought that was viscera. o.o i'll have to consider going back and watching that one then. guess i'll let this series convince me one way or the other. also, difficultymaxxing is the best way to play anything, so let's see them chops. lol.

    newcomers don't know how good they got it nowadays, but old players appreciate all these QoL changes, like merging belts and splitters, and painters and mixers. i dig these changes. every second i watch these videos pushes me closer to buying the game, but then you mention it's already got another update coming up and i'm reminded why i don't. i really want to play this tho. ah, the infamous wire layer. i never reached the point in my shapez 1 playthrough. i stopped when shapez 2 was announced. but it sounds both scary and very very exciting.

      He he he my commercial overlords are very pleased with my progress in tempting you with an early access game. Seriously though, a lot of games I can just say I'll take it or leave it, but this is just too damn good. Right now I'm itching to record another vid to progress further but I haven't the time. Wires and signals: I never played with these in Shapez and I doubt I'm smart enough to use them properly. I am attempting to convince one of my smarter kids to upload his efforts with those.

    the void is center stage in my heart. in fact, in my recent stardew farm, it's registered as my favorite thing. naming your modules and expressing trouble finding them is a good advertisement for the labels you scoffed at earlier. lol. thinking about it, efficiency doesn't mean much when your resources are infinite. they shouldn't spontaneously stop though. if your production stopped, something definitely went wrong somewhere.

      It's true that the resources are infinite, but The Void is insatiable and those shape numbers are going to keep on piling up. Now no-one is forcing us to not sit and wait patiently becuase that's one of the wonderful things about this game, but I KNOW I can do better and so that's not an option for me.     you know, the shapes are getting made, and they're getting where they need to go. that's what's important, right? efficiency? what's that? it was your machine, you made it, and it does the job, so that's great. i'm not even gonna point out any oversights that made me laugh or gesture or talk to the screen, cause that's all stuff i could just do in my own game, were it so important to me. i'd be no better than a guide if i just started telling you how to optimize your builds, and who wants to use a guide for a puzzle game? smh. about your question: watching people solve puzzles is one of my favorite things. so you show me as much of that as you want. can we reach a LeeSuss original Make anything machine? eager to find out.

      Make anything machine you say? Not quite but we're slowly getting there. My efforts to optimise and vague memories of Shapez 1 are slowly bearing fruit. It's ugly shaped fruit and probably isn't edible except to very hungry goats, but come back in a couple of vids and see what you think. Thanks for the support as always mate.

    you know, seeing that you needed twice as many red corners as blue corners, then setting up a machine that produces twice as many blue corners as red corners, then saying this is the most efficient use of your resources, paired with the generous belts, is, just, such, a perfect complimentary spice for this spaghetti. you're not stressing me out at all. not even a little. >.>

    The thing you're not having things nicely symmetrical is diabolical, my eyes bleed a bit. Not to mention you're not using one circle extractor - you know, that big yellow triangle with exclamation mark. And later on you blocked 2 extractors. Damn, you're efficient at messing things up. :D

    the new muskets are an upgrade to crossbows in every aspect. nice, nice. handcannons still have their place though. but why does your shot drop when theirs don't? o.O i've noticed in the last few videos, you installed these gliders in your high land outposts, but you always just walk anyway. poor neglected things. oh god, pay no heed to my min maxing musings. your bunk houses are perfect just as they are.

      I think the guards only shoot to their max range, and although I can shoot further it drops past that point. Oh god the gliders - they go a depressingly short range. Maybe I've been eating too many chicken meals? I really need the elevators to get a decent launch height, so next episode will probably be that plus steel gliders. Min maxing builds: I have the perfect game coming up very very soon....

    charcoal vs coal vs coke aside, if the forger uses 3 ore per bloom, and the blast furnace only uses 1, on top of the more efficient steel production, i'd retire those forger services immediately. finally got those muskets you've been drooling over for awhile. lol. they do sound an upgrade in all aspects over everything else you've got. the ammo's probably cheaper too. feeling secure. seems like a huge milestone, and i wonder where it could or will go from here.

      I get very paranoid about shutting off old services immediately. and we may have a good demonstration of strangling myself with New things in the next vid! New muskets....yeah those New things, or at least the ammo! The defences are most definitely secure if I can maintain logistics. We have some new fun stuff with elevators and rails and then I think we'd done!

      The bed next to the job station probably would help with a few more tics of production. I worry that some are travelling quite a way from their beds to the workplace, and it's how I started out with the miners and their permanent subterranean existence. Some of them are getting *really* weird down there.

    fresh air is good, sure, but i can get that by opening the windows and letting a draft through. the 10 minutes a day outside i average is plenty, i gather. also, you've never met this guy in your life. it was the other nerd on the beach that gave you the dna thing. walking on the sticks makes way more sense than what i was thinking, which didn't make any sense.

    this party wasn't even a disaster. seemed pretty normal, aside from all the spooky hallucinations. i admit, i was a bit worried about the fertilizer quest. with this game, you just never know. o.o;; so floofty, huh. gonna be an interesting interview with that one later, presumably.

      So you're suggesting hallucinations? I hadn't considered that, but we don't actually know there was something there in the dark, maybe the spooky sugestions and lack of food is getting to us. Poop quests are indeed concerning, but thanfully dev's don't all have to be Duke Nukem about it.

    it didn't occur to me, but there is a difference between steel and stainless steel, huh? i wonder how primitive steel can get, or how advanced stainless requires, or if there's even more advanced versions i don't even know about. o.o they're getting uncomfortably close again. but that's what the balance of efficiency and aesthetics is, isn't it? a dangerous game, that. of course, the reason you need specific colored lanterns to make cotton is... it's uh... ... hmm.... that glider on the mountain looks really cool, btw.

    not being able to ascend? predicted. breaking on landing? weird, but it makes more sense than sticking it in your pocket. respawning at the launch site? not even on the list of possibilities, but very interesting. so i guess they want you to make a glider tower at all your bases to make travel between them easier. stairs annoying to climb? elevator appeal rising. 10 rails for 1 iron ingot would be more than generous. 16 rails for 6 ingots is the same. if it were up to me, we'd only get 1 rail for 8 ingots, and we'd need a special multiblock machine to make them. lol.

      You were quicker to realise the value of the elevator than I was. I'll see how effective the steel glider is first and then work from there. I'll get to the rails after the steel revolution as I think it's going to need a real scale up in industry, and that means serious defences. I do love multi-block but please not in this game!

    i was wondering how upgrading jobs would work. it was nice to see it in real time. with all the different damage and distances, i wish you could set priorities like more standard tower defense games. being able to put your guns on strong and your crossbowmen on far and your archers on near would really help efficiency. also 100 bullets is scary low considering you were using, what like 1800 bolts before? o.O

      There is some sort of hidden target prioritisation at work: I've watched the crossbow guards pick out the stronger targets, and the handgunners do the same. The traps also work on stated enemy-health trigger value so they won't get wasted on basic zombs. When we first started this LP I was worried what new enemy types they would introduce, and the addition of runners or tanks etc would certainly want me wishing for priority setting, but increased health seems to be the only metric. Oh yes, 2000 bolts is standard stock, but the handguns fire much slower and less frequently due to reload and short range so less ammo is fine. The flipside of that is they destroy every target they hit. Plus I've had to go through a large resource scale-up (including food) to get enough ammo production so I can't just throw out a ton of new gunners yet. We'll get there, and we're immediately angling for the next jump up the offensive tech tree...
